So Long Aibo
We obviously have an interest in robots and robotics research here at SFR, so you might understand the news last week that Sony is discontinuing its Aibo robot dog brought a mix of sadness, relief, and dismay. It was sad because, well gosh darn it, Aibo is just so cute. We were relieved, though, that Sony will no longer be pushing the boundaries of robotics research in an effort to bring robots to every home in the world. However, we are a little dismayed that the company is abandoning all those little Aibo out there in the wild. I mean, what if they start joining together, hunting in packs, and multiplying? Yes, multiplying. Don’t you remember the first Jurassic Park? Nature finds a way.
