Germany Backs Out of “Google Killer” Project

According to a report on CNET, Germany is no longer supporting the Quaero project, which was originally formed as a European project to concoct a multi-media search engine that would eat Google’s lunch. Quaero will now be solely a French project, with the support of companies includling Arvato, Exalead, and France Telecom, with assistance from the INA (National Institute of the Audiovisual) and research institute Inria.
According to secret sources, Quaero plans to resort to different tactics in its quest to unseat Google. Unable to actually, you know, create a better search engine, future efforts to defeat the Google Empire will include throwing cheese at it, drinking copious amounts of Pernod, and smelling really badly after not taking a shower for weeks.
