Forget about the robots, what about the Chinese?
As if we didn’t have enough to worry about these days — war in Iraq, climate change, robot uprisings — now the Chinese are blowing up things in space.
According to reports quoted by Space.com, China last week used a land-based ICBM to blow up a weather satellite in orbit. Jeffrey Lewis of Harvard’s Managing the Atom Project told Space.com that US Air Force space tracking senors showed the satellite, called FY-11, intact on January 11, but a day later the data indicated “about 40 pieces of debris” in the satellite’s orbit.
Welcome to the 21st century, folks.
