SEGA will dominate the market for sort of life-like robotic pets
You remember that conversation you had with your parents when you were like six or seven about wanting a puppy or a kitten? That conversation that always included a long list of what you would be responsible for with the feeding and cleaning up poop? Well, if SEGA of Japan has its way, no one will be having that conversation ever again.
For the past year or so SEGA has been cranking out replicant cats, dogs, and now baby chickens that look and act like the real thing. Well, almost like the real thing. Actually, these things look pretty fake if you ask me. Oh, the baby chicks are cute enough, I suppose, but it’s surprising that with the black arts of anime and robotics at their disposal SEGA has started off their domination of the robo-pet market trying to make life-like mecha-animals. Why not a life-size Pokemon or a walking, talking version of some female anime character? (Some Otaku would surely give a year’s salary for a robotic version of Mizuki.)
