Your Order Does Not Compute: Robo-Restaurant Opens In Germany
The Japanese, as we’re all aware, have been working feverishly to build a vast array of service robots out of (a somewhat justified) fear that declining birthrates and demand for higher wages will deplete the service sector. Well it looks like some entrepreneurs in Germany have beat them to the punch and opened a fully automated restaurant.
Fortunately (or unfortunately if you are part of the robot appeasement crowd) there are no metal machines ambling around with platters and taking your order. Diners place their order on a touch screen and then the food is delivered via rail-mounted carriers.
Watching the video I’m not very convinced that it any more convenient than having Lucille plop you plate in front of you but I guess they never have to worry about these machines calling in sick.
