Smack My Pleo Up
If you are one of those tender-hearted softies then watching the Dvice staff abuse their Pleo dinosaur robot must be painful to watch. For the rest of us, who think the Pleo is just the first wave of the coming robot uprising, it’s pretty darn hilarious.
But don’t think that the Dvice kids are just heartless bastards. Sure, they seem to take some pleasure in smacking around their cute little dinobot, but it is a pretty fascinating test of how well the folks at Ugobe programmed this machine to respond to any sort of situation. The darn thing realizes what is going on and starts crying and whimpering after a while. When they hold it by the neck, it actually makes a choking sound.
After they stuff it into a shopping bag, the Pleo just shuts itself off. In effect, it “dies” from a lack of “love.” So at least now we know how to disable the Pleo threat: Shopping bags and a good ass kicking.
