I guess if humanity is destined to be enslaved by cyberbots then we might as well have a drink and toast our last days of meat freedom. Yes Roboexotica, the annual bacchanal of cocktail-mixing robots, is getting underway in Vienna. The carnival of booze-fueled robo-propaganda will pave the way for the great silicon uprising with [...]
A Chinese professor named Liu Changfa has developed a robot cook that has a built-in induction cooker and a pot to prepare meals for us. The upside of this is you no longer have to worry about someone spitting in the food or finding a stray hair on your plate. The downside, of course, is [...]
The Japanese, as we’re all aware, have been working feverishly to build a vast array of service robots out of (a somewhat justified) fear that declining birthrates and demand for higher wages will deplete the service sector. I’m starting to think that robots — or maybe the robot makers — are maybe a tad bit alcoholic with all these bots designed to pour beer and mix drinks. Though I would say that this one would be a little tough to get into the living room. Better stick with the Japanese version.
First the robots moved in and started taking away factory jobs, now it looks like soon they will be stealing jobs from migrant farm workers in California. What next, android nanny’s? Doh! Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything.
From Wired News:
As if the debate over immigration and guest worker programs wasn’t complicated enough, now [...]
The CSM calls a fear of robots a ‘Frankenstein complex,’ I just say it’s good common sense. Nevertheless, some good reading about the exploding consumer robot market in the US,
While Americans seem to have little problem with their unknowing interactions with robots, dealing with a product that is clearly an automaton exposes some of [...]
